The ‘Fruits of Rashness’ Longlisted for the Debut Dagger
I couldn’t really believe it when I received the news my debut novel, The Fruits of Rashness, had been longlisted for the Crime Writers Association Debut Dagger Award – especially as there were only nine other names on the longlist, which was drawn from many hundreds of submissions. The CWA awards are extremely prestigious so submitting seemed an extremely long shot. It just goes to show we should always give ourselves a chance to shine; to put our work up to be judged. You never know what might happen!
What happened was that I didn’t win. But no long faces in the Fleming garret. I remain excited at having reached the final stages of a top-flight competition. The next step is to find out if the world of publishing is as keen as I am to see my novel published.
